Periodically I become intrigued with an idea — sometimes random, often inspired by travel. They are actually “aha” ideas: gripping and spontaneous, but persistent. Sometimes it is enough to just draw a quick sketch or make a small model, but occasionally I must develop the idea into finished material. The finished works aren’t necessarily connected to a series, or easily grouped into any past category of work. They exist as a sort of lacunae, or gaps,  in my portfolio. These pieces often have the potential to become the beginning of new series.
